Although many of today's trunk restorers refer to an hourglass shaped stagecoach trunk as a "Saratoga", this is historically inaccurate. Trunks of this shape are actually a variant of the Jenny Lind style. Saratoga's were very large and ornate trunks. |

This leather covered Saratoga trunk was
found in Alliance, Ohio. As far as we can tell, the exterior
is all original. We did nothing to the outside except polish
the brass ends on the front slat. There is a couple of
streaks, probably caused by liquid being spilled on it, in
the bottom two front panels. The interior has been totally
redone. It has a large bonnet box in the lid as well as a
small compartment for gloves, hankies, etc. There is a
rebuilt lift out tray. Price $695. |
